50 Random Things About Me

I read this somewhere a few weeks back and it really made me want to do it. I can't remember which blog, but if it was yours, please let me know. Since I'm a super lazy person, I've just gotten around to doing it.

1. I hate chocolates.

2. I love icecream. But I hate chocolate icecream.

3. I make really good butter chicken.

4. I have an extremely sweet tooth. So much so, I sneak around at night when my mom is asleep and steal sweets from the fridge.

5. I watch a LOT of tv shows. I think I might need an intervention.

6. I'm not a morning person. Wake me up earlier than I'm used to and I'll make a face at you all day.

7. My dad and I disagree on everything under the sun.

8. I love action films, especially those based on superheroes and video games.

9. I have a vampire fetish.

10. I want to go backpacking through europe.

11. I'm incapable of living outside a city. I get bored out of my mind.

12. I'm really scared of heights.

13. I have an irrational fear of being stuck in an elevator with a stranger, similar to Aunt Josephine's fear of realtors in the Lemony Snicket movie.

14. I was once mistaken for a lesbian.

15. I've never been able to watch Casablanca in its entirety.

16. I've watched Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and The Notebook more times than I can count on both hands.

17. I buy notebooks just because they look cute and never use them.

18. I have a collection of 400 books, and I'm currently in the process of making an inventory.

19. My all time favourite movie is Roman Holiday.

20. I have an unending capacity for junk food.

21. My favourite place to go when I need to feel better is a Bookstore.

22. I never swear. Never use bad language. I used to. But i made a conscious effort not to and now it feels weird coming out of my mouth.

23. I am geographically challenged. I get lost quite often.

24. I hate drinking tea. It's coffee for me all the way.

25. When I was a kid, I used to think that tv shows were real people being filmed, and I wondered if I was secretly being filmed.

25. I get annoyed by bad spellings.

26. I cried like a baby when Sirius Black died.

27. I also cried like a baby when Heath Ledger died. I thought he was the best thing that ever happened to Hollywood. I still watch 10 Things I Hate About You when I miss him. Though, I think Joker was his best character.

28. When i was younger, I used to frequently have dreams that I was falling off a building, and subsequently ended up falling off my bed. One time, i fell on the other end of the bed, and my mom didn't see me and thought I'd gone missing.

42. The day after I saw The Ring with my best friend, the newspaper had a giant ad saying '7 Days To Go'. On the 7th day, I called up my bff to make sure she was alive, couldn't get hold of her, and had a mini panic attack.

@sandhya.. maybe we'll both see each other in NYC :P. About the lesbian thing, I was checking out this really hot girl, cos she was really well dressed, had this awesome pair of boots and a really pretty necklace I found really interesting. She thought I was interested in her, and started hitting on me. Most embarassing situation of my life.

@alvira. i'm weird that way. never developed a taste for chocolates.

@mehak. thanks

@purvi. thanks. thank god I'm not the only chocolate hater.

@perfectskincareforyou.. just shared the story in my previous comment. It took me quite a while to think of 50 things. not an easy task. and i'm glad you liked reading it.

Thats quite an interesting list :-) and i identify with a lot of stuff!....i get annoyed at bad grammar and mis-spellings too...!...like when people use lose for loose and vice versa...quite anal...and yes due to a near accident am mortally afraid of crossing the road too...and extremely geographically challenged, so much so, my dad used to marvel at how i find my way home from work every day!! And kudos on above average intelligence, thats a blessing :-) and i love the thing about TV and real people, see kids have an amazing imagination and i loovve them too, they are my fav people in the world to have a conversation about....and real interesting list, nice to get to know people in 50 tid-bits....inspiring enough for me to try my own 25! :-) And i CANT believe you hate chocolates or chocolate ice-cream!...i didnt know people like that existed!

The lesbian thing deserves a whole post btw!!
I LOVE hum aapke hain kaun. used to watch it on the VHS, when they still existed:)
I cried when dobby died! specially in the movie, they filmed it really well!

btw have u seen the move 'the truman show' with jim carrey. u shud if u feel sometimes you are being filmed: )

@anamika.. i'm not so bad that i don't find my way home. I'm okay with the roads i travel on everyday. But less frequent ones are a nightmare. I always set out for one place and find myself somewhere else. The GPS on my phone has been a blessing.
The TV thing was hilarious. I'd always try to be all nice and a good girl cos I thought I was being filmed and I didn't want to look like bad on TV. I love kids. I love conversations with them. They're always so full of energy, its refreshing. I've never liked chocolate, not even as a kid. I'm weird like that.
And you should definitely try this as well. I would love to know more about you.

@classy&fabulous. lol. there's not much to it. Just what i've written in my reply to sandhya's comment. As embarrassed as I was, i was a little bit flattered too. If i liked girls, I'd have been way out of her league. :P
I bought the DVD of hum aapke hain kaun. Its my feel good movie.
Oh, i was all teary eyed when dobby died too. It was so sad. I really liked him. He was adorable. But when sirius died, i cried more for harry who had nobody else in the world.
And I googled the truman show and read the premise. OMG, its so like what I used to imagine. I'm definitely going to watch it. Thanks for telling me about it.

Just randomly visited your blog again... Now I am a decade older but this is uncannily similar to how I am...10, 11, 12, 23, 25, 39, 43 and 50 could well have been written by me. For Heath Ledger, substitute Ayrton Senna/Kurt Cobain and we are good to go :). But we part company at Italian food...my greatest love! All the best, I enjoyed reading your look back on your first few months at work, I remember a time when I was equally earnest and dedicated. Learning to balance is no easy task. Would like to believe that I am only slightly less so now.

There's a little bit more to this loooong comment - I liked your work clothes post, I work in an informal industry in a conservative city, so it was most helpful!
